Amanda Bossard, fresh out from Anchorage High School, in 1992 began studying marine biology. Bossard started her commercial seafood career in 1999, after she began working on the vessel F/V Sunset. This 65' schooner converted to a salmon tender was owned by Murat Aritan. He has been a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard and Aritan are married now and are working together to stake their claim to their business. They believe in conservative, sustainable management of sustainable seafood resources. Otolith is a wholesale direct seafood distributor was opened on the 7th of July 2007 Bella Bossard (age 3), Andre Bossard (1 year old) as well as Bossard's mom. Bossard had returned to Philadelphia after the birth of her two children. Bossard in 2007, mother of two children Bella age 3 and Andre 1. She returned to Philadelphia from her native Canada, launched Otolith as a wholesale direct market seafood distributor. Bossard along with her two children Andre 10 and Isabella 12 make their annual return for a visit to Southeast Alaska as deckhands to collect wild salmon in the summer. In a small 42 salmon troller, using hooks and line for catching their desired salmon, they work with Aritan during two consecutive months, selling to local processors and continuing to grow their direct market seafood products sold through Otolith Sustainable Seafood by way buying the customized processing and packaging services provided by small processors to create unique wild seafood products that reflect their commitment to quality and the environment.
